Out on stage

Remember you are a Radio Marshal and look after the stage furniture and spectators, do all the things a Marshal does as well as tending to your radio.
If Control's signal is weak, or says your signal to him is weak, then move a little. Trees, buildings, hills, all deflect the radio signals. Even one yard can be the difference between all and nothing, so find those radio waves.
If competitors are stranded near you watch for signs of shock or hypothermia. Give them a hot drink (between marshalling and radio operating!!), offer them food and a blanket if you have one or invite them to sit in your car.
Advise Control if you are worried about a competitor. Help is at hand.
Ensure you don't bring on hypothermia, dehydration or heat exhaustion in yourself - dress, eat and drink sensibly.
It takes far more power to transmit than to receive so you will be the last to notice a flattening battery. If you don't do something about it early enough you will need Recovery to come for you before you can leave the stage!
From time to time run your engine, especially if it is raining and you keep using the wipers to see the car numbers! Or if it a hot day and you have your air conditioning going or have electrically operated windows and keep winding them up and down. (Well, maybe not on The Hillrally but often happens on the Scottish Hillrally)
Remember, The Hillrally is a hillrally (!!) and in hillrallies cars roll with monotonous regularity. They can roll halfway down a mountainside but as soon as the vehicle lands on some wheels, not necessarily 4 wheels, it speeds off, finds the course again and heads off towards finish.
Common sense is needed here. If you witness a roll and feel that the occupants of the vehicle could do with a medical checkup then tell Control and tell him why.
If a car is delayed by you let Control know to save others wasting time asking if the car started because it hasn't gone by them yet.
But keep from bothering Control with information he does not need while ensuring you pass on the information he does need.
